Artist Statement

Peter Roman is a North-East artist specialising in mixed media and digital. Roman works through mixed media practices using collage, painting and photography. He’s a current undergraduate at the University of Sunderland in Fine Arts. Roman aims to create a community and awareness for LGBT+ individuals. Roman’s work can be found through his website and social media. 

Working in paint and mixed media, Peter aims to raise awareness about the social stigma and political issues faced by the LGBTQ+ community. To achieve this, Peter conducted extensive research on the history and culture surrounding this topic, which peter combined with his personal experiences. This process enables peter to create a visual narrative that speaks to the heart and challenges societal norms. Peters’ material is a means to an end, Peters end goal is to provoke a reaction and emotion from the viewers, whether good or bad and convey a message.
